Seafood Bachelor Party

Hi. I'm a NY hounder who is originally from South Florida and is heading back in August for my brother's wedding.

I need some help planning his bachelor party dinner. It would be on a Saturday night somewhere in the Fort Lauderdale area. I know he loves seafood and some restaurants mentioned were Blue Moon Fish Company and Catfish Dewey's. Does anybody have any thoughts on these or other recommendations?

I want something nice - we won't get too rowdy - with great food. Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance!

  1. We like Truluck's (outside Galleria mall) and 3030 Ocean.

    1. Catfish Dewey's is anything but nice. Not sure why it has been spoken so highly about on this board, it always feels dirty with mediocre food at best (although the bone-in catfish is pretty darn good)

Bluemoon Fish Company is a good choice. As would be 3030 Ocean.

Couldn't disagree more on this panning of Catfish Dewey's. They sell so much seafood that you get good fresh fish and the like every day. The place is not dirty, just "rustic" or "down home" . It's a place to eat lots of great and well-prepared fish and other seafood. Broiled or grilled scallops are excellent, so is the AYCE catfish with AYCE shrimp combo. I had excellent stone crab claws there earlier this year and they were delicious. But this is not an "upscale" decor at all. Just good food and plenty of it.
