Meridian MS for nearly a week

Heading to Meridian MS next week. Where to eat? Prefer to visit local favorites, open to just about anything. Searched the web and it seems like Red Door BBQ, Seafood Express, Long's Fish Camp, The Chili House, Jean's Restaurant and Far Away Places are the ones that come up the most. I'm not adverse to chain restaurants but I'd rather give my money to folks who are keeping it in the community.

Most meals will be dinner but need a couple of breakfast and lunch recommendations as well. Any don't miss places? What's your family favorite?

  1. I wish you were going to Jackson for a week. Meridian does not have a lot on the food scene. If you can drive 30 miles W to Newton, MS you can get outstanding food at Exit 100 on I 20 at Zack Garvin's Steakhouse.

    Zack Garvin's Steakhouse @ Intersection Hwy 15 & Hwy. 80, Newton, Newton, MS. 601 - 683 - 7597.

Here are a few low rated places in Meridian. I don't promise anything. Binke's is good country food. The Landing is probably your best bet for food, cold drinks and entertainment.

    Binke's Restaurant @ 414 39th Ave., Meridian, MS. 601 - 693 - 4852.
    Crescent City Grill @ 519 Azalea Dr., Meridian, MS. 601 - 553 - 3656.
    Hungry Heifer @ 1310 14th St., Meridian, MS. 601 - 483 - 2509.
    Jean's Restaurant @ 2114 Front St., Meridian, MS. 601 - 482 - 2348.
    Penn's Catfish @ 250 Grand Cypress Ave., Meridian, MS 601 - 484 - 7280.

    The Landing Restaurant @ 5005 Hwy. 493, Meridian, MS. 601 - 693 - 5623.

Thanks, Littleman. Looks like it's going to be a not so great week for good eats.
