Cheap Eats/Happy Hour Restaurants in Maui

  • 1

I'll be in Maui in a couple of weeks and just recently started looking at things to do and where to eat. I did a bit of searching on the boards and other websites but this info is so hard to find. So far, I've only found 2 restaurants that have a happy hour special and because we'll be dining with kids (11 & 16 yo) we need it to be palatable to the entire family. The two I found are Sea House and Sansei. Anyone have any recommendations?

  1. For moderately priced family dining and happy hours, I'd say any of the TS restaurants would be good choices:

    Hula Grill in Ka'anapali
    Leilani's in Ka'anapali
    Duke's in Ka'anapali
    Kimo's in Lahaina

All have reasonably good food and drinks, moderate (for Hawaii) prices and good happy hours to save more money. Something for everyone on the menus, too. Also good views of the water at all four.

Lots of places in Kihei, but one I know of is South Shore Tiki Lounge. Strong Mai Tais and tropical sports bar kind of food. Its in a strip mall away from the water, but there is nice landscaping on the patio.

The food is only decent, but you could try Cheeseburger Island Style in The Shops at Wailea. No view, but its your typical family style place.

If you go to Hana, get plate lunch at Bruddah Hut's BBQ stand (cash only). Its an outdoor food stand in a dude's front yard. Very downhome and I thought, extremely delicious (pork tacos!). Its just past the town of Hana on the left as you are heading towards Oheo Gulch 7 Pools.
