New Diner Uptown Charlotte

What's the word on that diner at Tryon and Carson? There's no sign but it's definitely a pre-fab diner. Could be very cool. Anyone know?

Matties Diner (the one in the NC music factory) has officially opened today. Bout time!

Look for the Midnight Diner to open in about a month at South Tryon Street and Carson Boulevard, just down from the Uptown Cabaret. Brian Dominick, part of the Cabaret ownership, says he bought the classic diner in Kings Mountain "seven or eight months ago," then shipped it here. He'll turn it over in three weeks to an out-of-state operator who, he believes, plans a classic diner menu - breakfast 24 hours a day, salads, chicken, sandwiches, oversized portions - and will need a bit of time to tweak it.

Actually the owner posted on another site and that they were in the final inspection and hope to be open in the next two weeks. They have begun hiring also.

Matti's (the "Music Factory Diner") has been opening in the next couple of weeks for a couple of years now. Seriously. They finally got around to actually somewhat finishing the building, so maybe this time they mean it. Wouldn't hold your breath until you see them cooking.

Oh i know they (Matties) have been promising to open soon for years. But I did see they did have a "job fair" on tuesday/wednesday this week. I think it will do great with the late night downtown crowd (think they will be open 24hr on Thur-Sun.

yes, one will be near the NC Music Factory and the other one will be on Tryon near the classy motel.

You mean the Ascot Inn, with the heart shaped bath tubs? How in the SAM HILL is that place still open???

I hope it's truly a diner, complete with disco fries and pattie melts. It's positioned perfectly to attract all of the drunks coming from uptown.

That would be the place, hourly rates and all. Ewwe that would require more Lysol than is made. The diner looks cool from the outside it is an old fashioned all stainless structure and I think it was shipped here from NJ. I hope it comes with taylor ham and hard rolls.
