Hi y'all,

I'm looking for some recommendations for my birthday dinner (turning 27!). It's just for me and my boyfriend- we both don't eat meat/shellfish so our choices are somewhat limited (but have no problem eating at spots where meat is served). I'm looking for something trendy, delicious, and not too bank-breaking.
would love to go somewhere downtown- i'm from the UWS and pretty bored with the neighborhood choices.

some places I am contemplating:
scarpetta
appiz
perry street
bondst
locande verde

since we dont eat meat we usually lean towards fish restaurants, italian, sushi but are open to new places!!

thoughts?
i know its kinda a random list

Scarpetta is the only restaurant on your list that we've been to. We don't do trendy, and I don't think of Scarpetta that way though the dining room with its skylights does have a trendy modern look. The food is excellent, and the two seriously delicious signature dishes -- the mushrooms with polenta and the spaghetti with tomato and basil -- would be perfect for you as they are vegetarian-friendly. Add dessert and you'll be golden!

Last time I was at Scarpetta, the waiter told me the polenta dish has chicken stock in it, but they can make it vegetarian if you ask.

Apizz is really good, too, although Scarpetta has a more contemporary feel to it.
