  1. I love the foie de veau. And do get oeufs a la neige and souffle for dessert.

And, particularly, the caramel souffle. If it's not on the menu, just ask.

    2. Haven't been but I want to go very soon. I have heard about the dover sole and the duck looks great too.

        steak,

When we were at La Grenouille last year, I had duck. It was magret (aka duck breast). No bones in sight.

However, there was no duck on the menu when we were there this year at the beginning of May, and there is none on the current menu either. I had the Dover sole. Sensational!

When I said the duck looked great, of course I was referring to your photos. I remember looking at them and drooling on the keyboard! The dover sole looks amazing as well. I definitely want to try this old time institution.

What I really loved about the Dover sole, aside from the deliciousness of the fish itself, was that a waiter arrived with a small silver serving bowl from which he spooned some mustard sauce onto my plate. He then left the bowl on the table so I could spoon on more. I'm a glutton for mustard sauce, and this one was fantastic! I spooned merrily away and was in mustard sauce heaven!

I'm seconding RGR's nomination of the Dover sole as best in show. The souffles here are also landmark.

Thanks for the information as always guys. As a lover of souffle, that would be my definite choice for dessert without question! I've seen your pictures and it looks perfectly executed.

As for the mustard sauce, I love that they left it for you to enjoy at the table. So many times a restaurant is so chintzy with the sauce leaving you asking for more. Just leave it on the damn table lol!

When we were there last year, they had only one size soufflé -- ginormous! Mr. R. and I each ordered one. Yikes! We could easily have shared just one. Now, they are offering two other sizes: small and medium. But my guess, steak, is that you'll be passing on those. lol

I was interested in the different sizes for the souffle so I checked their website, and they're now offering 3 sizes (small/medium/large).

        2. The Dover sole with mustard sauce served on the side is outstanding and a "specialite de la maison!"

          1. As others have said, the dover sole, steak and definitely a souffle (the 2 of us each ordered a medium-sized souffle -- one pistachio, one grand marnier -- and ate every bit of both). I also enjoyed the clams casino. The only thing I was mildly disapointed in was the pike quenelles. The sauce was delicious, but the quenelles was flavorless.

In spite of that one complaint, I was quite pleased with the meal and the service. The experience definitely put La Grenouille back on my radar.
