Julienne...OFF MY LIST

Brunch at Julienne this past Saturday reminded me that they have been going downhill for some time now IMHO. Spinach feta pie...BLEAH. Rubbery crust, warm not hot, AND GET THIS: The waitress comes over to the table and asks if we could have an over easy egg on top instead of a poached egg because Manuel in the kitchen is having difficulty poaching an egg. I kid you not! Someone better go back to culinary school because his "over easy" egg was over cooked and hard. Add to this an unripe fruit garnish and...

I had the chiliquellas and they were just gross. Just thrown together, no taste, no salsa, soggy chips, horrible consistency...

The coffee and service, however, was good as always.

They haven't changed their menu for awhile and they are resting on their laurels.

And for those who ask, "well why didn't you send it back, let them make it right?"...have you heard of the words, quality control? Who let that slop out of the kitchen in the first place?

This is my rant.

  1. Oh, NO! Say it's not so!
We have always enjoyed Julienne's, but we have not been there in many months. The wait is often too long on Saturdays.
    Thanks for your post, orythedog.

    1. That's hilarious, and awfully sad.

Waiter: "Can we make your steak a tartare instead of well-done? Our chef still hasn't figured out the stove yet" ...

But have you tried our famous signature microwaved popcorn and our amazing tap water?....

Hmmh? I think I’ll just have one of your delicious frozen chicken pot pies. Don’t bother nuking it. The weather is warm out today. I’ll simply sit on the patio and sip some wine until it thaws.

          … regrets.

        2. I can't think of the last time I was there and I did not order the lamb sandwich, so I am hoping the quality control on that item has not slipped as well. Since I no longer live in the area, and I no longer work Downtown, I get there very infrequently, but it is still my go-to spot for the feel of a European sidewalk cafe.

          1. Julienne sounds like the kind of place that person from KitchenNightmres was looking for yesterday before he/she got booted off ... Twice!

            1. While I haven't been to Julienne since last March or April, I do remember that the Creme Brulee French Toast that I had was so tasty, coffee was decent and the service was excellent. My Lamb Sandwich on house baked Rosemary Bread was excellent as well. I can only hope that your bad experience was an abberation!
