ordering takeout in Venice/SM area $100. budget

smalldumpling Jul 19, 2010 11:22 AM

Hi, I have to order food for 16-18 people tomorrow night. Must taste good, but needs to fit my budget of about $100. Someone else is providing drinks. C & O fits my budget, but they are soooo garlicky, I am hesitant to go there....

Thank you,

You might try Lemonade on Abbot Kinney in Venice.

Also try Bay Cities Italian Deli in Santa Monica. They make party size godmother sandwiches. They are closed Mondays.

          wienermobile, you ran the category!

still, gotta add at least a couple:

burritos from tacqueria sanchez on centinela (#1 they close at 7, i believe, and #2 i am NOT talking about casa sanchez) you absolutely will be able to stay within your budget there.

closer to you, and gets a lot of love on the board, but i've never personally tried it, is LA PLAYITA, the little mexican shack on lincoln near rose. at this place, too, you will be able to stay within your budget.

          Wienie has some great ideas.

How about Tacos por Favor? I get three al pastor tacos to go, and it's usually about $7. And I'm usually really full, too.

for thai food, i'd bet that the folks at THAI BOOM would be happy to make you some trays of food that you could serve buffet style--maybe three types of entrees and some rice.

thank you to all who sent in ideas! We have been really broke so finally opted to make food (cost me $37. and took 2 hours of my time) which was a pasta with pesto sauce, bread and salad, and cookies, but I will go to all of the restaurants listed above and investigate them for future reference!!!!

For future low budget dinners, you also might try Gallegos for enchiladas, etc.
