There are two places around Oak Tree Road that I have been to and can recommend. One is Rasoi II and the other is Moghul. I have been to Moghul more often but only because they do a buffet lunch which is both quick and very good.

re: ambrose
Agree with both of ambrose suggestions. Rasoi serves a wonderful family style buffet on Sunday that is outstanding (& the place is filled with people enjoying the buffet every week). Our last visit included 22 choices; soup to sweets. With more than enough chicken, lamb and veggie options to please.
Moghul has a small but delicious lunch buffet-only menu during the week and an extensive dinner menu at night. The stuffed tomato and lentil soup alone is worth the visit. Also, the sweet shop two doors down from Moghul is worth a stop if you enjoy (as I do) Indian ladoo, pastries and sweet/savory samosa. Sold by the piece or by the lb. a wonderful way to end a meal at Moghul. The carrot halvah is to die for!

I'm not sure if this is in your general area ... I think the town is Morris Plains.
We went here once for a birthday celebration (there were 8 of us) and it was pretty terrific. Both veg and non-veg dishes. BYO which was great. Very nice staff. It's called Cinnamon and here's the link: http://www.cinnamonindianrestaurant.com/ .

re: Heatherb
I'm in Monmouth County, but meeting friends from Middlesex. I was kind of hoping for a recommendation around Oak Tree Rd., mostly because I know the area, as well as the abundance of restaurants in the area. Which one though? I have no preferences between styles, other than non-vegetarian.
