Looking for "American" food for visiting Italians in NYC

I'm coming up to NYC from Philadelphia to meet a couple of friends visiting from Italy in early August. They're teachers who are chaperoning 4 or 5 of their Italian high school students. I would like to take them some place for dinner that is not anything like they would get at home. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

How about BBQ? Hill Country, Dinosaur, Blue Smoke. Or Katz's.

I think Dinosaur BBQ is a great idea.

Blue Smoke is a great choice! Hill Country may leave a bad impression, after all, you have to serve yourself and I'm not sure how Italians would feel about that. But it sure is down home American.
