Getting together a group for Amada's Pig Roast?

uhockey Jul 19, 2010 05:20 AM

Hello all -

Will be in town from 08/25-08/28 for a conference and have three potential open nights for dinner (8/25, 8/26, 8/28.) Would love to do the Pig Roast at Amada (plus other tapas) but need a group of 4 to do this. I've seen posts on here indicating people have tried to put a group together via Chowhound before to do this, but never saw any results. I'm traveling solo but if I could find 3 others willing to join in that would be great.

Count me in, any of those dates work for me. Most flexible time-wise 8/25 as I'm off.
Thanks for trying to make this work out.

Nice - once we have a few more people intrested we can coordinate logistics and such.

I'm interested for any of those dates!

Just moved to Philly from Boston. Might as well start with the pig I've been hearing about...

We need a 4th and someone to coordinate the reservation - I think I'd prefer do the 28th, but the 25th would work as well.

I will try for the 28th for a res. I should be able to find a 4th person if we don't get anyone else on here. I think I've also heard that they'll do for 3 but charge for 4 which i would be fine with. I have no trouble making reservation but please let me know by Mon-Tues of that week as they reserve w/ $50 on credit card and i've already lost that once with friends who had to change plans!!

I do know that Amada can do the pig roast for three but will charge for four... More leftovers!

4 is a minimum, right? They'll do one for >4 as well? Sounds like a huge quantity of food, plus there are the tapas to try as well. A couple more people might not be a bad idea...

If you contact the moderators (use the "Report" button), they'll sticky this thread to the top of the board to make it more visible. At least that's the way we always did it on the Boston board.

I know for three people with tapas before it was an enormous amount of food...we wound up freezing leftovers and reheating them for a while. The pig roast at Amada is not "small bites" like the rest of the food at Amada by any stretch of the imagination because the onions, potatoes, chickpeas, etc. It is a large meal in itself but I am not sure if the proportions would change if your group is larger.

I don't think the amount of food changes. I've done it twice, once with 4 of us and we were eating leftovers for the next week and another time with 8 of us, there wasn't anything left.

Uhockey, if you do August 25 there is a good possibility that I could round up a couple people. In a situation like this, the more the merrier.

I'm down for it - just decide on the 25th or 28th, book it around 7:00pm, and tell me where to show up - the sooner the better so I can coordinate the rest of my trip. The 25th may be easier to score a reservation, not being the weekend and all.

I certainly don't mind if it is 3 people, the price really doesn't matter all that much (within reason). Don't really mind the portions, either, I plan to order a couple extra tapas at least - I'll let whomever take home leftovers - I'm there for the food and the experience.

If personal communication is needed to coordinate (and certainly not to detract from conversation on this board) my blog could be used.

Folks, as per our guidelines, we'd like to ask that someone provide an email address or other point of off-board contact information so the discussion of the logistics of RSVPing, etc, can happen offline. http://www.chowhound.com/topics/36760...

            Thanks.
