Back from Cape May
We just spent a few very pleasant days in Cape May. I want to alert the board to a few places we tried. The Sea Shanty is on Beach Ave, across from the Convention Center. It is a new, small place with a few tables inside and a few outside. Order at the counter and eat on paper plates. We shared a lobster roll and a fried scallop sandwich. Both came with French Fries and were delicious! Nothing fancy, just good seafood at the seashore. The lobster roll had enough lobster to rival Pearl Oyster Bar's. The scallops were perfectly cooked, not at all greasy. I asked them to hold the tartar sauce. On the ocean side of Beach Ave is McGlades. We had two good meals there; scallops (again), soft shell crabs, and grouper. McGlades doesn't look like much, but the food was well prepared and fresh. I would go there many times over before going to the Lobster House once. We also ate at the Cape May Seafood House ( may have the name wrong) on the Washington Street Mall. Also had the lobster roll, which was OK. The lobster had been sauteed in butter and the dish was served warm. No mayo at all. Not as good as the Sea Shanty. My brother had whole lobster which he enjoyed. All of these places are BYOB. McGlades stops serving at 9pm. doG willing, I will get back to Cape May and eat at the Sea Shanty and McGlades again.
Happy Summer!
