Mother and Son Bistro Asheville(Woodfin)

I noticed a fairly new restaurant with a very interesting menu and wondering has anyone tried it?

  1. I don't it's that new, actually (open a couple of years?). Went for pastries a couple months ago and wasn't impressed. I had a multi layer Oreo cake and it was dry and tasted like freezer burn a little bit (looked great though). My friend had a palmier and it was very tough. But, I AM a snob when it comes to bakery items. Maybe ask for something made fresh that day? The people/owners were very friendly though.

However, I didn't eat lunch there, so no clue if that's better?

I know you were talking about lunch, but if you're looking for good baked items, I'd suggest Creme or City Bakery. They are both much better.

yes, I know. I guess I just meant that I knew you were looking for something besides pastries! haha BUT, if you were looking for pastries at some point, to try the other places.

I agree though, I thought the menu at Mother & Son looked good too. I would be curious to hear what you think if you try it. I am just gun shy since the pastries looked great and didn't deliver. At all. :-/
