Sorry I didn't report this sooner, but I had a major system crash and am only now getting back online: I asked at Donut Man, and they said they would have peaches starting this weekend.
BTW, I got a very unsatisfactory Fresh Peach shake at Fosselman's this evening. It had an unappealing processed flavor with no discernible pieces of peach -- much more a product of the factory than the farm, it seemed. (Fortunately, it didn't have the bad aftertaste that you get with poor-quality ice cream.) I didn't realize the problem until I had driven down the street, when it was too late to do anything about it. I'll be interested to hear if others have a better experience.

re: J.L.
Don't forget that two years ago Donut Man caused panic in the streets when they started the season (in August) with beautiful but unripe peaches. They freely admitted the problem and eventually fixed it, so my advice is to call them once the peach season starts and make sure everything is copacetic before making a long drive over.

re: Nicole
Yes but even during peach season, there are plenty of farmer's market vendors out there right now selling sour peaches and nectarines.
Ken of Ken's Top Notch Produce consistently delivers amazingly sweet, flavorful peaches and nectarines. Just a warning though-- his white nectarines are the crunchy kind popular in Asia (though they are incredibly sweet) and his yellow peaches (marketed as "mango peaches") have been gone by 10:00 (this is at the Sunday Hollywood market). He has a smaller stand on Saturdays at Virginia Park in SM, and at Torrance some time during the week (maybe Thurs?)
I fell in love with Ken's stone fruits a few years back and my wife and I visited his farm near Fresno for our anniversary. We combined it with a trip to Organic Pastures, because we're like that.

re: aching
Bake 'n Broil can produce outstanding peach pies -- when the peaches are outstandingly peachy. During the scare of 2008, one reason I was so upset with Donut Man -- a place that I advocate the way Burger Boy advocates 26 Beach -- was that Bake 'n Broil's first peach pies of that season were fantastic. If they have great peaches, I asked, why not Donut Man? Ironically, just as Donut Man began getting better fruit, Bake 'n Broil stopped making peach pie/shortcake/etc., because THEIR peach-provider was sending them mushy fruit! The lesson, I guess, is: call BnB and ask if good peaches are available this year. Alternatively, just head over and put the question to them in person, because you won't go wrong ordering one of their other very good fruit pies (or cakes or anything else on the long dessert list).

re: aching
We went to Bake 'n Broil last night and had the peach pie - it was AMAZING! I was a bit skeptical at first because the peach slices were so perfectly glazed, they looked like canned peaches - but they tasted unmistakably fresh and delicious. My cousin has the olallieberry pie, which could have used more sugar, I thought - but I would return again and again for the peach pie. Thanks for the rec!
