wishing well restaurant in wilton near saratoga, N Y

Wishing Well Restaurant in Wilton provided us a traditional American meal with FRESH ingredients, simply prepared and beautifully presented. A beautiful sliced tomato with balsamic vinegar and olive oil beside it greeted us as we sat down. We started with a gazpacho full of small dices of cucumber, scallions and tomato- wonderful, and a dish of stuffed breaded squash flowers. I ate a remarkably good dish of calves liver, perfectly cooked, soft and scrumptious. And with it, an ear of local corn- early in July! An enormous and delicious salad accompanied this. We ate every bit of everything so that we had no room for desert. However the manager handed us each a large chocolate truffle as we left.
Everyone was pleasant, helpful- and we enjoyed the meal immensely.
This restaurant is about 10 miles from downtown Saratoga, reasonably priced and uncommonly good.

  1. Glad you enjoyed the place; it has always been high on my list of local restaurants to go do. it is also a favorite of many of the racing crowd who come to Saratoga for the meet, which begins July 23 and lasts through Labor Day. It can get crowded during that time, so plan accordingly.

    1. I've eaten there a few times, and found mostly retirees eating safe overpriced unimaginative food.

Very fond of the Wishing Well; excellent ingredients in really old-fashioned preparations; fine dining circa 1957. And I mean that as a total compliment.

      2. we got a gift certificate from my wife's uncle. it was odd that they had it since they live a couple hours south and don't travel much. at a recent family function they gave it to us since we live in the area. looking forward to trying it.
