Terried Sake House Closed

I just found out that, after 25 years, the Terried Sake House closed last Friday. I had been eating there for more than 10 years, and am sad to see it go! Is there anything else like it?

Izakaya SaSaYa is a few doors to the east on SMB and IMO vastly superior to TSH.

SaSaYa is meh for me, even after 5+ visits. I thought Terried was much better, while it was in business.

Within that 'hood, FuRaiBo is better than SaSaYa, Place Yuu is better than SaSaYa, NanBanKan is better than SaSaYa, & Orris is better than SaSaYa.

FuRaiBo & Nanbankan are both on my never go to list (as was Terried) for blechy food. I will say that Orris is different from SaSaYa but I still like SSY better.

I really like Nanbankan. I think it's far better than Terried Sake, FuRaiBo and SSY. I'm curious to know why it's on your never go to list. Orris is good, too, but it really belongs in an altogether different category.

I still don't understand the name. Terried? Any ideas on how they created that name?

The owner is Japanese. No further explanation needed. Hey, it's memorable, right? So mission accomplished, in my opinion.

Have you ever tried Raku on Olympic Blvd. and Barrington? It might scratch some of the same itch.
