No MSG Pho
anyone know of a "no msg" pho place in Richmond or the lower mainland?
The only place i know of is Nooch located at garden city and cambie in richmond.
problem is that they are only open 4 hours / day now , and are closed on weekends.
strange way to run a business.
anyone know another place?

Possible MSG-free pho (call first, YMMV): Lam Hoa Quan on Victoria, Pho Tan on Main, Pho Le on Main, Pho Vancouver on Main, Pho Hong in Burnaby. Less MSG than usual (or maybe none): Le Do on Hastings, My Chau on Kingsway (the pho ga certainly seems MSG free and is excellent). Happy hunting!

re: grayelf
This blog post says Basil Leaf in Aberdeen is MSG free: http://eatnabout.wordpress.com/2009/0...

re: grayelf
I wouldn't really worry about MSG because its all a myth if you like soy sauce, miso soup, tomatoe sauce, any aged cheeses, then you like MSG. Parmesan cheese is FULL of msg. Check that link out to see that you eat msg and don't even know it, gotta love the "placebo effect"

re: benzer
But you replied to a Zombie thread benzer!
That made me smile, that benzer is saying to stay on topic to a post that is 8 months old. Chowhound always makes me laugh how people (especially on this board) keep resurrecting posts that are dead! That being said, I understand your passion for no MSG...
It is so frustrating as a reader to look at a review or comments and then realize it's years old or out of date period!

re: benzer
:-) benzer...
'Kay, say I was just looking above and saw GE's post about "Basil Leaf" and I get all excited and say, "wow, a non msg pho place"... Then I google and find out it closed 6 months ago...then I look at the thread date here, and see it's 8 months old...That is the reason I don't like them, often, a lot of the information is not relevant any more. I wish they were closed off after a period of time. Nothing against what you are saying. I hope you didn't take it that way. :-)

re: grayelf
I second the recommendation of My Chau. I can't confirm 100% it is MSG free. But it is the broth that tastes least like MSG to me in the Vancouver area. Their fried chicken is superb as well, which you can order with the pho ga as a combo.
