Local places with moderate prices-- seafood or anything else good

  • 1

We would like recommendations for places that have great food and reasonable prices. We don't want "cheap eats" and we don't want the "special occasion place". Don't want to pay $50 for a salmon dinner at Canlis when someone can recommenda a place that is just as good with a $25 salmon dinner. We will be in Seattle for 9 nights in August and like to eat where locals eat--the only criteria is GREAT FOOD. Your recommendations are appreciated.
We are overwhelmed by the number of restaurants in Seattle from which to choose.

  1. We ourselves are visitors but we had two really good meals that I think would fit into your requirements. The first was at Monsoon East in Bellevue--contemporary Vietnamese that had some really unusual dishes at a reasonable price with good service and atmosphere. Tonight we ate at Queen City Grill in Belltown, which I had not remembered seeing on the Chowhound Seattle Board but which appeared in the Gayot guide. We had an absolutely great experience there--both the halibut and Cioppino entrees were terrific; a nice and appropriately priced wine selection (we had a nice Washington Chardonnay); the service was better than excellent and the whole place just had a great feel.
