Ferry Building

Hello,
I've been to the Ferry building quite a few times to eat and enjoy the FM. I usually eat at Hog Island and a couple of times Taylor's. I'm going to SF next month, is there any place else I should try for lunch/dinner at the FB?

    1. Il Cane Rosso.. i wandered on my own at lunchtime one day.. sat outside and had a wonderful " RANGE BROTHERS MILK BRAISED PORK sandwich with cabbage slaw, mint, lemon" . . I was in heaven... another day, I got tried empanadas from the El Porteno cart. I took those home but perhaps you can get them warm to eat outside...

I second Il Cane Rosso. That is one tasty sandwich.

If you are going tomorrow, Jeremy Fox is doing a pork sandwich at il cane rosso.

Their egg salad sandwich is amazing. The best egg salad I've ever had.

        2. I think Taylors is closed now.

WOW, interesting about Taylor's, thanks for the link. I want to try something different, so most definitely I will be doing II Cane Rosso/and or Slanted Door when I'm there in August. I really liked the burger at Taylor's, meaty, a little greasy, VERY filling, plus sweet potato fries. I was there last NYE for dinner, not knowing what I felt like having and just popped in around 8 p.m. on my own and sat at the counter. Sounds like everything is the same...just a name change? Hope all the drama doesn't cause it to close altogether. Don't know if it's the best burger in SF, but I'd miss it if it were gone.

We're in a bit of a burger renaissance right now, so Gott's (nee Taylor's) doesn't usually make most people's top 20, even though it's a very decent burger. But I know what you say about time and place: sometimes a spot is just right. As I understand, the problem was 100% name - family members or other burger joints, I forget. Gott's will be there for a long time.

Still, next time you're in town, look up burgers here and see where else you might go. Spruce, Nopa, Namu, slow club (and sister serpentine) are very highly regarded. Here's a link or two to get you salivating:
