First Time at Cleveland's West Side Market-Need Suggestions

Hey good people of Cleveland! So tomorrow will be my first experience at the West Side Market. As much as I would LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE to get a little something from each vendor, this is not really an option.

I am not a big red meat girl. I have a sweet tooth bigger than the state of Texas. Cheese is my weakness. If I'm going to get carbs, they better be good!

Looking forward to my maiden voyage to West Side Market! I will be blogging about my experience when I'm through! Thanks, Cleveland!

Are you looking for ready-to-eat foods that you will consume at the market, or are you looking for raw food to take with you, or both?

Orale has a good selection of Mexican food. Pierogi Palace has very good pierogis.

I have to agree with stuart about the pierogis. The meat and produce are really the draw for me... Great selection and quality.

The market is still geared toward home cooking as opposed to take-out prepared foods. You will see piles and piles of lovely raw meat. However, Maha's felafel is very good. I like it with hot sauce and turnips. The fern cakes at the Irish stand are really good too. The crepes are also excellent. There is a staircase in the back by the coffee stand. Go up and you can perch on the balcony and take it all in. Then go across the street to Great Lakes and have a beer and look for Elliot Ness' bullet holes.

I forgot about Reily's. I've had a few different things from them and it's all been very good.

This might be too late....Cake Royale has a great selection of cakes. The cupcake shop also has a good selection. My two favorite cheese shops are the Meditterean market that kind of sectioned off from the rest of the market and the Cheese Shop. Ultimately, look around and see what looks good. Hope you enjoy!

Thank you everyone! I must say, "WOW!" What an awesome place. If I lived in Cleveland, I am pretty sure I would be a regular. It was a bit too crowded to function, but I was totally impressed. Unfortunately, I didn't get the names of any of the places, as it was get your food and go-the lines were long and I didn't want be in anyone's way.

I wrote about it on my blog, so feel free to check it out.
