Who's got the best pastrami sandwich?
Lots of pastrami sandwiches in Vegas, but which is best? This can be a matter of personal taste, so here's some (mostly L.A.) calibration that might help:
--My overall favorite is Junior's in Westwood. Maybe not the best bread, but the best pastrami for sure.
--Langer's has the best bread, but I thought their meat was just OK. Seems to be the favorite in L.A. though.
--Canter's is not what it used to be. I've also had the sandwich at their outpost in the Mandalay racebook -- meat was OK, although I don't care for their method of warming refrigerated pastrami on a flattop. Bread was stale.
I haven't tried Carnegie Deli at Mirage -- I've been to the original in NYC and wasn't impressed, so I see no reason why the Vegas outpost would be better.
How about some of the local delis? For some reason, I haven't gotten around to trying them out. I'm in NW Vegas, so I suppose Bagel Cafe would be a good start. Any other suggestions? Extra points for good rye bread (I prefer the soft inside, crunchy crust kind).

You want the best pastrami sandwich? Brent's Deli in Northridge. I've always been partial to Art's in Studio City.
As far as Las Vegas... there's only five local delis in the valley.
You already know about Bagel Cafe. They also have an outpost in the Suncoast Casino. Abbreviated menu, but somehow different. Fresh baked bread.
Up in the far NW, Deli Den. I've never been way up there, but the menu looks authentic.
In the SE, Weiss Deli. Closest to me and I go there often.
On the eastside, a brand new deli, Levy's Bagels. Haven't tried it yet.
My old favorite, Bagelmania.
So there you go. Try them all and let us know if you find anything worthy of Langers.

They must be following me. I moved from Summerlin to Henderson.
Just checked both properties' websites. The name at Suncoast changed to Bagel Corner Cafe. South Point has a quick eats places called the Del Mar Deli. I don't know who operates it.
Nevertheless Steve, there's another choice for you.
Wait... just remembered one more place. Not a deli, but a hot dog stand that advertises "Los Angeles style" pastrami sandwiches. Sammy's on Decatur.

I've only been to places on the Strip: Canter's, Carnegie, Zoozacrackers and Stage Deli (back when it had a full service restaurant at Caesars).
I thought Canter's was the best of a mediocre bunch. However, I haven't been there in some time. My memory is that the pastrami was nicely steamed. If that has changed, I'd be concerned.
Zoozacrackers had the next best pastrami sandwich. The meat seemed similar to Canter's, as did the bread. I also liked their Zoozaburger (basically, a hamburger with pastrami and a bunch of other stuff). The rest of their menu was much less impressive.
Carnegie was a disappointment: dry pastrami, with not much flavor. They supposedly get their meat from their East Coast commissary, but preparation is still important. The other half dozen meals I had there (I'm a masochist) weren't any better.
Stage Deli no longer has a sit down restaurant - and in any case, I never tried their pastrami.
