Paulie Gee's Pizza - THE SIZE

richyrich Jul 16, 2010 08:56 AM

Made the trek to Paulie Gee's Pizza the other night and was extremely delighted with the product itself, service from nice young lady from Cali and the owner schmoozing and BSing with us. The only problem I have with these artisan type pizzeria’s is the size. Being a NYC New Yorker I am used to the regular size pie/slice not these small individual pies. I am not complaining on price for quantity for I would gladly pay more for a larger pie. Does any agree or disagree? I feel like I am eating a kiddie size pizza. Just to note and this is not a shill, I am extremely happy in every facet with Mark @ Lucali's size pies.

I couldn't disagree more--Paulie Gee's pies are quite large compared to comparable restaurants in NYC. At some places, my wife and I will get a pie each; at Paulie Gee's, we often split a pie.

I actually feel like the pies are slightly larger than the more closely hewing traditional ones at places like Keste and Motorino.

I agree, they are not small individual pies – the pies are medium 6 slice pies. Good to share with one or two other people, family style. That way you get to order and enjoy three (3) or more different types of pies. All this talk about Paulie Gee’s – I need to take a trip to Brooklyn!

I understand what you are saying, however, the good thing is all of his pies are great! I usually go with friends in group of 4 or sometimes 8 or 12. By the end of the night we taste all of his pies.
Hands down! All of Paulie Gee’s pies have mouth watering explosive taste – Start with the Greenpointer to open your appetite then move onto meatier and spicier pies. That is how I get to enjoy more than one pie.

One of the areas Paulie Gee sticks with the Neapolitan style of pizza is in the size of the pie.

Yup. Its tradition. Ask anyone from Napoli.
