Where can I find an Australian style hamburger in O.C.?

I have some Australian friends staying with me for the summer and they're craving hamburgers like they have back home. They say American hamburgers just aren't as good. Are there any places where you can get a hamburger in Orange County with beetroot without the waiter looking at you like you're crazy.

I got this from Wikipedia and I think they want something similar:

"They almost always include tomato, lettuce, grilled onion, beetroot (canned slices), and meat as minimum, and can optionally include cheese, pineapple, a fried egg (usually with a soft yolk) and bacon."

  1. Even the Counter doesn't have beets (we don't cal them beetroot here, really) as a topping, but I bet if you called ahead and explained, and maybe brought a can of beets with you, they'd do it for you.

Strange since the Counter seems to have everything else. There is a Counter in Australia, and of course beetroot is one of the topping choices.

It wouldn't occur to me to have beets be one of the toppings. Why don't you send them an e-mail and ask about it?

    2. Not in the O.C. - But if they're desperate, then drive up to Venice to Bondi BBQ (Australian Stlye) for:

Burger - The Works $8.95 - with: egg, bacon, cheddar, beetroot, pineapple, lettuce, tomato, grilled onion & bbq sauce.

Warning ~ Next they'll start complaining that they can't get a decent meat pie or fish-n-chips like back home ......

no one should go to burger kitchen. it might have been the worst hamburger i've ever eaten!

Thanks for the tip. I think we might have to try it out this weekend providing I can handle the crowds at the beach during this heat spell. The menu looks pretty good and is exactly what they're looking for.

        3. Problem solved. My favorite burger in OC hands down is at 25 Degrees in Huntington Beach (there is also one in LA in the Roosevelt Hotel). While beet is not one of the toppings on the menu, they do have a beet salad. I am sure if you ask they would do it for you.

I know for sure they offer a fried egg for the burgers because that is how I get it done there.

You can get a fried egg at Fatburgers as well.

Beetroot on my burger is something I think I'd like a lot!!
