i have a friend of a friend in town and last minute we decided to grab lunch..i work on park and 49th and shell be at the moma so were looking for something between those two spots...were open to any type of food but would prefer to pay less than $20/person and not go somewhere too formal since i wont have a ton of time. help please :)

The cafe inside the museum has very different food than The Modern, the restaurant next door. However, I believe you need to purchase admission to the museum to get to the cafe inside.

I'll check over the course of this week, but I have a hard time believing that you have to pay admission to enter the restaurant. I mean, it's like the gift shop: not in the place's interest to repel you thus.
edit: I didn't know there was a resto next door named "The Modern." Riding on coattails (and not the homeless), I guess.
