Vietnamese sandwiches at Simpang Asia?

Hi Chowhounds,

Two things:

1) Has anyone tried Simpang Asia's "American" sandwiches (formerly Cheviot Farms) - if so, is there anything you would reccomend? Do they do an Indonesian spin on anything? I have a big party coming up and was hoping to get a few platters of sandwiches with an asian spin.

2) I called there recently for a different question, and we got off track and onto another conversation - the manager asked me what I thought of vietnamese sandwiches and if they started to offer that, how popular do I think it would be? Of course I said I would buy them, and I imagine other folks too.

Just curious to hear from other Chowhounds if they felt the same way - I know we're all always complaining there's no decent vietnamese sandwiches on the west side!

Thanks!

The sandwiches are not that good at Cheviot Farms. Low quality fillings and terrible bread. I'm sure something on the level of a Mr. Baguette would do well on the westside. Heck if the just upgraded the quality of what the have there they would to better.

The people are very friendly, I'd love to go there more often. OTOH that parking lot in tiny, so maybe its better they don't do vietnamese sandwitches.
