Cork and Cap Lancaster
Has anyone had a good experience at this restaurant? I haven't been, but my husband was there with colleagues for the second time last night, and for the second time described one of his worst dining experiences ever! I'm sad, because it seems a lot of effort was put into this hotel and restaurant space and I really wanted to see another great restaurant join the Lancaster scene. He actually told me last night that most of the members of the party didn't even finish their meals because they just plain tasted bad. *sigh* I guess I'm just hoping for . . . well, a little hope that this place isn't all bad. (The chances of the spouse and I going so I can see for myself have probably dropped from slim to nil and I'd hate to take girlfriends to a place I've only heard bad things about.)
This is a very common complaint about this restaurant.
Hit or miss service, food, bar. It's all over the place.
They've cut staff, eliminated younger staff so as to "attract an older crowd".
But the biggest problem is the kitchen and the owners.
Food can at times be very good, but not consistently.
Service is usually slow, distracted, un-attentive.
The owners do not have a restaurant background, and it shows.
They are however very successful in their other business, but the same
business model does not fit well in a restaurant.
The building is remarkable, the bar area and brick & cork hallways beautiful.
It's a shame everything else is sub-par.
