Looking for a Farmer's Market this weekend in the Eastern Townships

I'll be spending the weekend near Magog and I'd like to go to a farmers market. I'm familiar with the area, but haven't been back in a while. I would drive a ways to get there.

  1. Here's a link at the MAPAQ about markets in the cantons de l'est .

    Max.

    1. I know there's one on School street in North Hatley on Saturdays. That's not too far from Magog and it's a very pretty town to visit. I've never been to the market though (missed it by one weekend in mid-June). Ayer's Cliff has one too, the same day.

I was at the one in Ayer's Cliff last Saturday. It's on the fair grounds in the middle of town. Not huge but everything I tried was great. Organic strawberries were out of this world.

Apparently theres also one in Stanstead in the 'Stone Circle', Fridays 4:00-7:00 p.m.

      2. I wholeheartedly agree with the one in North Hatley and not just because a friend of mine sells her wares there! There is one at the Marche de la Gare in Sherbrooke proper but frankly, it's so sad, it wouldn't be worth your time.

I too was surprised at the lack of choice/offerings outdoor market of the marche de la gare in sherbrooke. They couldn't get one fresh strawberry/raspberry, etc stand to come and sell their products there?

I know, right? We're surrounded by them so I was surprised not to see anyone representing! I did like finding out that there is a CSA that services the Townships; I was a member of one back home in Atlanta but couldn't find any info on one here until now.

Also, the stickers on your fruits, vendors, pretty much lets me know that you got them from the grocer's. I didn't fall off the turnip truck.

        2. There is a great Farmer's Market in Knowlton (Lac Brome) on Saturday morning - local everything seasonal, eggs, chicken, beef, fruits veggies and one stand sells the most fantastic tartes aux tomates - amazing. Sutton, a 15 minute drive from Knowlton, has a great flea market/farmers market Saturdays also - homemade baked good, fruits veggies maple syrup, great homemade donuts if you get there early enough and the flea can have great stuff - Le Creuset for ten bucks, first editions of books, great old jewellery.

Really? I must make a note of this. A 45 minute drive for a potentially kick-ass farmer's market is not out of the realm of possibility.
