Friend wants to eat scallops with coral

Planning on Neptune and Gaslight or Eastern Standard. Will those places serve that? Anyone had any in the Boston area?

Hatch's Fish Market in Wellfleet is the only place I've seen that I've seen that consistently carries roe scallops; big roe scallops at that. I understand the OP was asking about restaurant options, but figured I would add this to the thread. Also, note this is a seasonal outlet May - September.

They do not have them now. I asked at Hatch last night- they do not get it often this summer, they said, and are not sure when they will get them again. Have not found a good supplier.

i've had it at peach farm and uni. you won't get it at esk or gaslight for sure. neptune, maybe, but i've never seen it there.

Ebusiya market used to sell great selections f mixed raw seafoods (fish, oysters, clams, etc... ) and these contained scallops with roe. I haven't been there recently however.

There was also a guy who posted here on Chowhound a year or two ago saying that he was planning to sell scallops with roe, gave a contact number but the post was deleted (likely for being commercial).

I've had them at PFS and EOC and the Chinese Martkets often sell them.

Just as an FYI, there was a 2 year ban on selling the roe..lifted in March 07..

Have not seen scallops with roe at many places, certainly not the ones you list. Chinatown Hong Kong-style live-tank seafood places like Peach Farm, East Ocean City, and Jade Garden are a good bet. I think I've seen them on the East Coast Grill's menu, but not in a long time.
