A bunch of guys are meeting in Nashville to celebrate a buddy's pending nuptials. People will be coming from NYC and LA. any suggestions out there in chowland? Food that can't be missed (BBQ?, Prince's?), bars that must be stopped at (New Yazoo? great bourbon bar?) and great hotel recs would be greatly appreciated. Money is not really an issue, but would like to get a good taste of the the food and the city. What is the best neighborhood to stay in? Need the full run down, but food is of the utmost importance!!!!

  1. 2 hotels come to mind and they are both in the midtown area, Hutton and Indigo. You’ll find tons of restaurants/bars in the area. Patterson House for artisanal cocktails, Broadway Brewhouse for their beer selection and make sure to try a Bushwacker, Red Door Salon, Corner Pub. If you come up about 8 blocks on Broadway you’ll find a bar called Whisky Kitchen on 12th. They have a great whisky/bourbon selection and fairly decent food. For bbq check out Jack’s on West Trinity and not the downtown location, you’ll avoid all the tourists. I’ve also been hearing great things about the newly opened Blind Pig in the 12th South neighborhood. Just down the street from the Bling Pig1 you’ll find an excellent locally sourced burger joint called Burger Up. I definitely suggest checking out the new Yazoo location, even though it’s lost a bit of its charm, the beer is still great, and definitely check out the tour if you get a chance. If you decide to venture out to Prince’s make sure you arrive early to avoid the lines. My last suggestion and my favorite of all is City House in the Germantown area just north of downtown...excellent wood burning oven pizzas, house cured meats, all around creative food.

    some other places of interest:

Fido in Hillsboro Village (coffee, breakfast/lunch)
    Bosco's in Hillsboro Village (brewpub)
Sunset Grill in Hillsboro Village (casual fine dining)
Suzy Wong's House of Yum midtown (asian cuisine) Top Chef contestant Arnold Myint's place
ChaChas in the Belmont area (spanish, tapas) Top Chef contestant Arnold Myint's Place
Arnold's downtown (meat & three) James Beard winner

    1. The Hermitage Hotel may be the best hotel in Nashville. The Hutton is outstanding also. The Hermitage is in downtown Nashville and Capitol Grill in the hotel is outstanding. I like Park Cafe a lot. I love the atmosphere and outdoor dining.

      1. most of the recs below wouldnt cut it for a bunch of guys attending a bachelor party, at least not any I have been to. I would stay at the loews or Vandy Hilton as those other places are more for the ladies or the black turtleneck crowd (no offense intended), not a bunch of partying guys.

I would recommend Lime or maybe South Street and the neighboring establishments for eating and drinking. Patterson House is OK for a round or two but overall seemed quite contrived to me. Perhaps it will grow on me as I have only been once. Not sure why eye droppers need to used to make drinks, but I did like the ice cubes, basically like a frozen snow ball. It has no sign so could be a little hard to find (I think maybe this is supposed to add to the air of exclusivity).

        1. The Doubletree downtown is fantastic and has everything you are looking for and more. The location is great and just a couple blocks from the Wild Horse Saloon. The saloon has a third floor private area with a bunch of pool tables and it own private bar. It isn't much to rent this space and the food is great. I have stayed at the Doubletree several times and they have a great bar with live entertainment, the restaurant has the best buffet in town, Starbucks in the lobby and walking distance to everything including the Wild Horse and all the clubs and restaurants just a few blocks away. Call Denise their Sales Director and she will hook you up.

          1. Funnily enough, I went/tagged along on a bachelor party in Nash. I ran in to my cousin from the west coast and a bunch of his friends and family from the east coast in the downtown Hooters and it went crazy from there. I remember a stop at Coyote Ugly (hilarious what they did to him), Broadway Brewhouse, The Stage, etc etc (all the places a bunch of rowdy, normally uptight professionals want to go on a weekend like that) and then ended up at De Ja Vu. BTW, if you hit the strip club, stay away from Peaches....WE HAD A BLAST. Of course the evening started out respectable as I was told, sushi at Virago and drinks at Whisky Kitchen.
