Galapagos Trip This Winter

Heading to the Galapagos for two weeks, both land-based and on a cruise. Any suggestions/warning are much appreciated

Haven't gotten that far. Just decided we want to try both ways, as I don't like the "group tour" thing but through reading seems that's the only way to get to the most cherished spots. If you've gone and have suggestions I'd love to hear them

We flew into Quito and stayed at the Swissotel for two nights. Great service and the wonderful breakfast buffet. Stay in a suite and they will have a private car pick you up at the airport. So worth it! We don't do the group thing either. We flew to the Galapagos from Quito and stayed at the Royal Palms. They had someon waiting on the tarmac to take us to a private lounge while all the passport stuff was done. A private boat was waiting to take us to the resort. We did private trips to various islands each day and were back at the resort for dinner and to sleep. We absolutely loved it. Worked with the resort to arrange all the trips that included a private naturalist. We're still talking about this trip. It was truly fantastic.
