VA Beach Faves

A friend and I are doing a girls' weekend at the beach. I know I'll probably miss out on some of the best by doing this, but we really want to park our car and not have to drive til we leave. What are the best places we can walk to if we're staying on the main drag? We eat about anything and could use suggestions for breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks (late-night or regular) and any yummy cocktails. Thanks!

  1. Catch 31 located in the Hilton Hotel on 31st street would be a great place just to hang out and enjoy a few cocktails and apps outside overlooking the ocean. For breakfast, there are many good (and cheap) pancake houses on the strip. My favorite restaurant on the strip right now is La Dolce Vita on 17th Street. It's authentic Cajun/Creole food that is out of this world. They also serve some pretty strong drinks, like the New Orleans favorite; Hurricane.

I was browsing online and wondering about La Dolce Vita, I love Cajun food and Nola so thought this place might be one to check out. Thanks for mentioning it!

I would recommend Aldo's at La Promenade. Not within walking distance, but it's a 10 minute drive drom the oceanfront. My favorite in VB.

We tried "La Dolce Vita" thanks to your rec and it was great! Huge portions, plugra butter, homeade dishes. I heard that the chef used to be the chef at the Wine Bar in Norfolk. I don't know if it was a off time - Friday at 10pm in mid November but we were the only ones in the restaurant. I hope this one makes it - I don't think I would have tried it without the Rec, the signage/website/vibe didn't match the food, the fry batter was really flavorful and different and I bet the po' boys would have been scrumptious. It's nice that they are open late!

Glad you went! Chef Adam is fantastic - he cooks the best pork chop I've ever had. ;) LDV's clientele is odd, they either come in really early or super late, plus the bar upstairs draws a lot of really late diners. I hope you go back and enjoy some more food!
