Just got back from some traveling where I had a couple of excellent turkey burgers - lots of topping choices (grilled onion, bacon, portobello mushrooms) and sauces (horseradish, chili ketchup) and was trying to think of a local place with good burgers and an eclectic mix of add-ons. I like Fatburger's, but where else? Hollywood, east side, SGV and downtown particularly...?

I know, as a chain, it has its issues, but I really like the turkey burgers at Johnny Rockets. Their fries are mediocre, their onion rings an abomination but their turkey burgers are very nice -- big, juicy, dripping with melted cheddar and freshly grilled onions, and always hot off the grill. (And, if you wash it down with a milk shake, you can cancel out what whatever health benefit you might otherwise have obtained from having turkey instead of beef.)

it may sound weird, but I've always enjoyed the turkey burgers at Norms...they're simple, but there's something in them that's different (tastes like cumin to me)

Eat Well (West Ho, Silverlake & Glendale) has an excellent turk burger comes on a really good whole wheat bun. Instead of lettuce, it comes with sprouts which I get them to exchange for lettuce. If you really want to go healthy, you have an option of a fruit cup or you can get the standard, fries -- I order "well done" & their extra crispy. Yum!

There are two excellent turkey burgers that I can recommend:

The Rosemary TB at The Mustard Seed on Hillhurst in Los Feliz is really great - it is seasoned very well and has your standard tomato/lettuce/onion on a nice bun. Comes with a very nice salad or surprisingly good potato salad.

Ammo on Highland at Santa Monica Blvd. in Hollywood also has a very good one with sharp cheddar, tomato, arugula and caramelized onions, and served with some of the best fries I've had.

Hope that helps!

I've had both. I don't usually like the flavor of rosemary too much, but I agree that it works really well in the Mustard Seed turkey burger. In contrast, while I generally like the food at Ammo, every time I've ordered their turkey burger, it has tasted burnt.

I eat them all the time. My favortie is The Gardens at Glendon in Westwood (comes on a grainy bread with fries and fruit salad).
I can also be found eating them at Fatburger, The Arsenal on Pico, Big Tomy's (not Tommy's) on Sawtelle and Pico, and Foodies on Wilshire. Those are all passable.
