Best lunch in Toronto to "linger"?

Meeting a friend for lunch on Friday. Wanted some place where lunch would take more than an hour, so we could catch up. Anywhere in Toronto is fine. Hoping for $60 pp and Continental food would be prefered. I would want to avoid places where everywhere is having a business lunch. We've gone to Globe, Spledido and C5 for lunch before, so those are out.

It's over for the summer, then up again in October.

Really good to know...I almost made up my mind to go there, would've been disappointed. I am left with George, Auberge, and Oro for lunches...anyone been to either of those and could sway me either way?

The patio at Le Select is made for lingering. I have often spent a few hours there for "lunch". 60 per person would let you have an excellent lunch with nice beverages.

I've gone to George for dinner a number of times, always amazing experiences...but only once for lunch. It was pretty bad...mediocre food, bad service...

I think the patio at George is pretty nice...think it's worth another try for lunch?

can't give you a good response - haven't been to lunch (or dinner!) at George in a really long time. I just am quite fond of the space. Was my little oasis when I used to work nearby (and they just let you sit there if you did take out). A looong time ago.

If you liked Globe, maybe try Earth? Nice place to relax. I give the edge to Globe for food, but Earth is still quite good.
