Best Happy Hour for Big Foodie Group in Downtown Culver?

wasabica Jul 12, 2010 05:58 PM

I have about 6-8 people from my office looking for a good happy hour tomorrow (tuesday.) It has to be in downtown Culver. My fallback has always been Fraiche, but I think we want to try something new, considering all the recent openings in the area.

This is a foodie group that is also into wine. Also, the place should have seating and not be so crowded and loud that we can't talk to each other. It does not have to be cheap, but it would be nice to have happy hour discounts to take advantage of. I heard Ford's Filling Station, maybe Father's Office might be good? Does Waterloo do happy hour specials?

Any recommendations? Thanks

We are going to Ford's today, and Waterloo in a couple of weeks. Thanks!

Ford's is really good though for a large group it can be a little crowded. Rush Street is pretty good if you are looking for something to please everyone. I have found that Father's Office is also yummy but better for a smaller group of people as it can be hard to find a larger table.
Gyenari is super tasty and can easily accommodate a large group and it would be my choice if you are looking for some good conversation and a half decent wine list.

Who has the best food, do you think?

I would have to say that the food at Ford's is the best of the bunch but Gyenari is a very close second.

does waterloo have a happyhour? Last I checked, you can only order off the regular menu - $25 entrees, etc

Here, let me Google that for you http://www.waterlooandcity.com/?page_id=172 and their web site says "Happy Hour" - so looks like they do! ;-D>

And I found their Caesar salad (full review found here: http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/7179... ) to be middling at best. But some of their other offerings were certainly worth going for. I aim to go back to try their various charcuterie plates, especially the King - named&sized - one.
