Taking the teen to visit a few colleges, staying in Portland looking for some chow advice on places to dine.... Would LOVE a seafood place, open to Asian, Steak, Sushi, Mexican as well. Nothing too $$$$ would love recs for b, l, d as well.

Much appreciated! From a So Cali foodie...

I would get over to Andina or 50 Plates. We had a great lunch at 50 Plates last month, it is in the Pearl District. Le Pigeon is another one of my favorites in Portland. :)

Pok Pok or Ping for SE Asian, Biwa or Tanuki for non-sushi Japanese, Bamboo Sushi, Laurelhurst Market for steak, Nuestra Cocina for upscale Mexican. Lunch: food carts downtown, Bunk or Meat Cheese Bread for sandwiches, Olympic Provisions or Evoe for interesting small plates. Breakfast for me is coffee: Barista, Ristretto, Extracto, Coffeehouse Northwest, Sterling, Spella, and in a pinch Stumptown.

Thanks--you might try posting to the Pacific Northwest board for Salem, since this one only covers Portland.

a few minutes outside(15 perhaps) of Salem is Apizza Stayton. other than that, Salem is a wasteland! seriously.

I had to go to a meeting in Salem a few weeks ago and ate at La Capitale downtown. It was actually quite good.
