Breakfast places in Murray Hill

Looking for some GOOD, casual places for breakfast near Hotel Roger Williams; for a Saturday, Sunday and Monday in early August. Bagels, eggs, french toast sort of thing. Thanks.

  1. Hotel Roger Williams is on Madison and 31st, right?

You're a short walk from the Breslin in the Ace Hotel and Penelope. Fika (coffee shop) is nearby, too, but Stumptown in the Ace Hotel is better. Nearby also is 'inoteca Gramercy, Resto and Les Halles though I've never heard anything good about the latter.

Overall I'd say that the Breslin, Maialino, 'inoteca are probably your best bets. 'inoteca only serves weekend brunch, Breslin and Maialino have breakfast on the weekdays and weekend brunch.

Thanks for the detailed reply; I did see your post when searching before posting.

I am really looking for coffee shop, diner-like places, eat-in deli type shops, not really upscale spots.

the Barking Dog had some terrible food (including a biscuit that we wondered if it was meant for dogs) the one time I've been there. Not looking to return.

There are a lot of old people in the Murray Hill Diner every time I pass by. A good sign?

Moonstruck is eh. Huge portions but not very good at all.

          Totally with you on Moonstruck.

Culture Espresso offers some morning breakfast foods. Maybe a bit fancier than what you're looking for, but it's still pretty casual. There's no waiter service. I haven't had their breakfast, but have had some delicious sandwiches, pastries and coffee there.

If Culture seems a bit too upscale, there's also Sarge's. I've only had their pastrami sandwiches and burgers, but they also serve breakfast foods. Their pastrami is delicious, and I see they offer a pastrami omelette on their menu.
