Rita's Frozen Custard - Milford CT

FYI - Rita's is opening a new franchise in German's Plaza on the Post Road in Milford. I see it's going in the old packie in front of Planet Fitness--NICE--and just down the road from Cone Zone. I love Frozen Custard, so I am psyched I don't have to drive to West Haven or the Jersey Shore to get my fix! They've been very busy working in there, so if it isn't already opened, it probably will be any day.

Sadly, it's about as frozen custardy as a Mister Softie.
I really wanted to like Rita's but I am not a fan. It's nothing special.

Rita's italian Ice is very good - love the ice flavors, mango and tropical flavor especially. The custard is good, and makes a very nice 'gelati' - combo of ice and custard. But to be completely honest, I have had better custard.

I thought this was Italian Ice, not Frozen Custard. I was at the Cone Zone the other night and noticed that they have just started selling Italian ICe as well (from Libby's in New Haven!) Shrewd move which, to me, is a direct reaction to the opening of Rita's down the road.

Rita's sells both (and both together, which they call "gelati")!. Love their product.
