Settle a bet? Prettiest restaurant in Charlotte.

I don't care about food (well, that's not true but for the purpose of this post it is). I'm looking for CH opinions on what is the prettiest or best decorated restaurant in Charlotte.

  1. I've always thought Carpe Diem did a great job (that goes for their previous locations as well).

Agree on both Fig Tree and Carpe Diem. The artistry on the wood at Carpe Diem makes it a one of a kind in Charlotte and the renovation at the Fig Tree bought the Lucas House back to it's roots, on steroids. Elizabeth is fortunate to have both of these restaurants, with great food as well.

+2 for Carpe Diem (current and previous locations). Both inside and out.

      2. For the best of both worlds go to Fig Tree, very memorable food and ambiance.

        1. What about Bonterra. I have not seen the others but Bonterra's building is very pretty to me.

          1. I might not call it the prettiest but the decor at Blue Taj in Ballantyne is worth a look. . . .

            1. Hand's down, prettiest restaurant in CLT, Savannah Red in the Marriott City Centre Uptown. Only seats 27 people.

Interesting Waitress. I've not heard great things about the food at SR so I never popped in. Very pretty. As to earlier Bonterra comment, that's what got the whole thing started. What is UP with the acoustic tiles on the ceiling? I know they're functional but they look awful. The person I was having this conversation with thought Pewter Rose would be the clear winner and it hasn't even been mentioned.

I have waited tables at Savannah Red for 8 years, I am permanent on call. It's an awesome gig, they call me for wine dinners!! DUH!! OK, I'll work. This is beside the point. Food has been up and down, I think it is pretty good right now, I am not sure I would want to blow it out with the hotel pricing, but wine dinners are the deal, get on their email list.

              2. Just found another contender. Kalu Asian Kitchen and Bar. The food is amazing and the place is magnificent. The decor, design, art and ambiance are all spectacular. They are uptown 505 East 6th Street.

Kalu just made the list of top 20 new restaurants by Esquire mag - for what that's worth. I haven't even heard of it until today and I work uptown

                  1. re: hazardnc

You should give it a try. A fine dining experience at a reasonable price. Not cheap but very reasonable for the top quality offered. First class ingredients prepared with amazing creativity and technical skill. The ambiance and the art work displayed is not your common Charlotte vibe. Dim Sum served on Sunday is a whole new level of experience.

Chef Bryan Emperor of Kalu was named among 100 chefs nominated for a new award from “Food & Wine” magazine and CNN’s Eatocracy: “The People’s Best New Chef.”

                2. Just visited Halcyon! Gorgeous and a great patio overlooking Tryon.. Can't wait for warmer weather.

Yea, the patio and interior are very nice, but the food... the food is gorgeous. Chef Marc is doing some crazy good stuff there. Charlotte has finally kicked it up a notch with Halcyon.
