Mofongo in Charlotte?

Is there anywhere to get this in Charlotte? I saw it on Food Network a couple of times and was intrigued. Last night Mrs. friek and I made guinataang puso ng saging, which was excellent, but after eating it Mofongo was all I could think of as another food to try I've never had.

That's easy. Punta Cana on South Blvd. It's a little hard to miss, as it used to be a Wendy's. They definitely have Mofongos and a lot of other Dominican dishes.

mofongo is PuertoRican, not Dominican. However, many people from the DR have taken up residence in PR and cooked in our fondas (diners) and restaurants, so they know how to make it the right way. ;-) Since I'm PRican, I felt obligated to point out that mofongo is *not* a Dominican dish. They do have a dish in DR made out of mashed plantain that is delicious, but the plantain is boiled instead of fried, and it's called mangu.

I'll be adding Punta Cana to my list of restaurants I have to check in CLT.

I know mofongo is a Puerto Rican dish but the OP is asking where to find it in Charlotte and Punta Cana is the only (and best) place that comes to mind. If you know of an authentically Puerto Rican spot in town, let us know.
