Other ideas and input for Denver
So, I am head to visit a freind in Denver. Comments or thoughts on our food plans...
Friday - We get in Friday morning. We have lunch reservations at Rioja. What's good on the lunch menu? That night we are doing the outdoor burger bbq at Marczyk's, per our friends suggestion. Probably getting some goodies that night to take with us the next day for a picnic lunch.
Saturday - Heading up to Beaver Creek and rafting on the way, doing a picnic lunch. Doing something cheap and very casual that night in Beaver Creek. Staying at the Park Hyatt but guessing after rafting and a day of outdoor stuff we won't want to do anything too nice for dinner. Beers and burgers for us!
Sunday - Heading back to Denver in the am. Brunch spots along the drive back? That night we have Fruition reservations. Any menu ideas or tips?
Monday - Have the full day before a 7pm flight. Lunch ideas on Monday? We are staying in Highland.
any feedback or thoughts are appreciated!

Good, affordable sushi and asian fusion is available in Beaver Creek at Foxnut, in case you happen to want something other than a burger.
On the way back down the mountains, there's a good place called Mangia!, in Idaho Springs.

re: Chargenda
I'll bite...though I'm a newbie poster, and don't always have a lot of input b/c of limited time/money for dining out. I'd guess the lack of activity is in part because this is a newly-formed board, including multiple states, and thus the posters are less concentrated than the city-specific boards.
Anyway, for your day in Highland, places in that neighborhood worth checking out are Lola (Mexican, lots of seafood, great views), Root Down (sort of hippie locavore fun), Duo. Just talking a walk around the neighborhood centers of 32nd & Lowell, 32nd & Zuni, 44th & Tennyson you'd find lots of options. If you want to go beyond the neighborhood, you're just minutes from downtown and there are several great posts with recommendations already (searching "downtown Denver" should turn them up).
As for Rioja and Fruition, I don't think you can go wrong!-----

re: Chargenda
Sorry, didn't think about day of the week! Venue Bistro (good reviews, haven't been yet b/c have always tried spur of the moment and they're full) would be open. Parisi is order-at-counter casual (esp at lunch) but consistently great Italian, and on a fun block (as is Venue). Big Hoss BBQ, just down the street from Parisi, is also worth a visit.

re: ShinyObjects
I agree about Venue, Big Hoss not so much...Venue's open for lunch?
Bang's cute and pretty good. Squeaky Bean's downright superb despite the name. There's great divey Mex in the area if you're down for that, e.g. Tacos Jalisco, Los Carbonaros. (I mean those are at least sit-down places, and Jalisco has beer.) I hear very good things about Masterpiece Deli but I've never been.

re: Chargenda
If you are in Highland on Monday for lunch I would say that you should check out Masterpiece Deli directly west of the Highland Bridge. They have the best sandwiches in Denver and it's very affordable.
Fruition is always amazing, allow for time to kind of relax and enjoy the meal. It's tight in there so be warned.
