Has anyone tried the new Aprile's European Restaurant in Chelmsford?

There was a review in the North section of the Blobe yesterday. Here's a snippet:
According to the restaurant's website as well as an earlier note from the writer of the I'm Your Server Not Your Servant blog on our Boston's Hidden Restaurants Facebook page, the same family that owned the European Restaurant (which had been on Hanover Street in Boston's North End) has opened a new spot in North Chelmsford called Aprile's European Restaurant. Located on Princeton Street where Bainbridge's Restaurant used to be, Aprile's European Restaurant is housed in a spacious old brick millhouse with plenty of seating, exposed brick, and exposed pipes along the ceiling.

The pizza was NOT the same. Would like to hear from MC Slim JB on this subject...

Well, there were posts from 2 other "hounds" who both claimed that their families "owned" the recipes but the Mods removed them. Not sure who's recipe this restaurant is using, but if the pizza is good - European or not - that's what matters.
By the way, I'll be heading to Umberto's for my "pizza fix" tomorrow at lunch - if it's not raining. Does anyone know if they've raised their prices since coming back from vacation?

I went the other day. I think the prices are unchanged. Certainly no dramatic change if any.

Got there about 1:15PM today & the wait was about 20 minutes. AWESOME as usual, & they guys there as so sweet to me - maybe 'cause I order a LOT of pizza there! I got 14 slices today (just finished off 2 while I was typing this) & wrapped the rest for the freezer. Slices were $1.45, which I think is 10 cents more than the "pre-vacation" price.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure the slices were $1.35 before July. They never go up more than 5-15 cents on any one item yearly anyway. I started going there in 1981, and the arancini were $0.85. Last year they were $2.75. Not a bad increase in nearly 30 years.

I had no idea they opened a new one. The food at the old European wasn't that great, but I really liked the pizza, especially the "Deluxe". Of course, the maitre'd in the tuxedo was great, too. He actually went over the Union Oyster House after the European closed. Does anyone know if he is still around?

Is this a new "European Restaurant", or just a new European restaurant, if you know what I mean?

If they make a salami pizza like the old place on Hanover Street, then they'd be worth the trip regardless of whether or not they have anything else worth eating on the menu.

It is run by the same family that ran the old North End European.

That's great news, thanks. A little curious, too, since I recall reading when the European closed that it was because nobody in the family wanted to run it anymore... maybe they got nostalgic? Anyway, I'll be checking out their pizza soon, guaranteed.

Hope they make the huge pizza that they used to cut into squares - and hope it tastes as good as I remember! F.Y.I., I think the North End European sign is now at the Johnson & Wales museum in Rhode Island.
