Any suggestions for good basic pasta? Nothing fancy just a big plate of homemade pasta with a good marinara, tomato or Bolognese meat sauce? A good bread basket would also be a plus.

Something near 53rd and 3rd Ave or within an easy subway ride.

Lexington and 3rd ave run pretty far you might want to be a little more specific.

Teodora does a very good bolognese.

A little north, at 58 and 3rd, is Mia Dona. It has good Spaghetti and meatballs (though, my grandma's are better) with very good prices. 4,5,6 to 59 st

Have you been since Michael Psilakis left? Sifton gave Mia Dona a big fat goose egg in his review.

            But Sifton liked the meatballs.

I was there a few weeks ago...It's nothing special, but it's an okay neighborhood pasta place, which is what the OP was looking for.
