Tarrytown - Best Choice Pre-Theater?
Going with another couple to a show this week, and we'd like to eat somewhere (earlier) before the show starts. We've been to Sweet Grass Grill (it was OK), and Caravela (usually good) - we don't want Lefteris (we like it, but have it frequently). We would like to be within walking distance to the Music Hall. Chiboust, Jack & Dyl's - what are the best options for a good meal?
Thanks!

Jack and Dyl's is nothing great. Went twice and never went back while living in Tarrytown for 6 years. Chiboust is SO not worth it. The food isn't anything great and the service is just awful. Over-rated in my opinion. I love Swagaat, the new Indian place where Cafe Tandoor was. Sweet Grass Grill is better for take out. Noisy and the service isn't good at all. I'm debating trying Tarry Tavern tonight.

There are some Chiboust-naysayers on this board, but I have to say, I love it as a pre-theater choice. They seem very aware of curtain time if you tell them, and you can have a small, quick bite or a full meal, depending on how soporific an effect food has on you.

re: wincountrygirl
We'll try that or Tarry Tavern next time... we went to Jack & Dyl's and while it was comfortable and the service was friendly, the food in our experience was only okay. Probably worth another try I suppose, but we'll probably just try something else next time. Thanks for the suggestions!

I had a very enjoyable meal at Jack & Dyl's with friends several months ago. Cozy place, interesting menu (something for everyone) and accomodating service. Chiboust is good, but -- to me -- less comfortable. It felt "stiff" there, for lack of a better word, but I know others love it. There's an Indian place around the corner from the theater that we tried last time we went to a show. We were surprised by how good it was. Cafe Tandoor. I had a bad experience at Sweet Grass Grill - primarily due to the noise level.
