Lunch & dinner off I-80
Hi,
I'm moving from NY to Chicago by car. Hopefully, I'll be able to try out a few noteworthy places on the way. Do you hounds have any suggestions for lunch (western PA) or dinner (Indiana or Western Ohio) before we hit our destination?
Thanks!

Go to Tony Packo's in Toledo.
Really good food and very famous. Has been mentioned several times in the show M*A*S*H* and one of those places where every celeb who is in the area eats there.

Toledo and South Bend are both along your route. You'll find recommendations for Toledo in this discussion:

and for South Bend in this discussion:

Downtown Toledo and downtown South Bend are both 10-12 minutes from the highway. However, my two favorite restaurants in the Toledo area are right near the Ohio Turnpike interchange with US-20/Reynolds Road, just down the street from each other on Dussel Drive: Mancy's Bluewater Grill for seafood ( www.mancys.com ), and Bangkok Kitchen for Thai food ( www.allmenus.com/oh/maumee/55893-bang... ). Mancy's Bluewater is easily noticeable, standing alone in the outlot of a strip mall on the north side of Dussel, but Bangkok Kitchen is somewhat hard to spot in its strip mall on the south side of Dussel; it's just east of Wendy's.
Bring your EZ-PASS for the tolls, as it is accepted (and gives you a discount) on all the toll roads along your route. Driving westbound, plan your trip so that you don't need to stop for gas at the first 2-3 service areas on the Indiana Toll Road; they charge about 30 cents a gallon more than the ones on the rest of the toll road (which are also significantly cheaper than Chicago gas prices, so DO stop at one of those - the last one is around milepost 22, right before I-80 splits from I-90).
You'll want to ask on the Pennsylvania forum for suggestions in western PA.
Welcome to Chicago; I'm sure we'll see you on the Chicago forum!
