Will be going to an appt. on an upcoming tuesday up in Rye on Chesnut street--coming from Queens, and will need a place for late lunch or early dinner--didn't find much on the boards except for Aurora ---kids menu would be helpful, too...(kid eats pizza, pasta, or hamburger--likes sliders)---clean, comfortable, and not too expensive,---thanks for some suggestions....

  1. There are plenty of places to eat in the area depending on what you define as "kid friendly". I love the food at Ruby's and they are always, always friendly to my 2 year old. They make her grilled cheese and sometimes they have a very good turkey burger slider. But, it can get "up there" for "kid's food", I guess. Rye Grill and Bar has an extensive menu, is also kid friendly and very casual. Ruby's and RGB are owned by the same group, I happen to not enjoy the food as much at RGB. Al Dente is a very casual pizza place that has a full menu of entrees, and the kids can get anything they like-pasta, slices, whatever...I have lunch there with my daughter frequently and we order in from them quite a bit, too. I believe the ownership has changed recently, but I find the food has not declined.
Just up the road in Rye Brook ( Rye Ridge Shopping Plaza) is the Rye Ridge Deli ( diner/deli food), Pizza and Brew ( i'd definitely AL Dente first) and a Chipotle.
    Hope this helps!

    1. I would think twice before going to Aurora with kids. Although they make pizza it is not a pizza place-- it's really a restaurant. Al Dente and Sunrise are regular pizza places in Rye where you order your slice and sit. They both have cooked food as well. Rye Grill has something for everyone. It's big and the kids like the watch the trains go by if you are on the terrace or near the windows. Check out their menu

Rubys and Morgans are also in Rye and owned by the same group. They both focus more on fish, Rye Grill is a more general menu.

      Hope this helps,
