    Thanks for the replies. I've had some rather ineffectual ones lately. Expensive, too.

    For the record, Tony's Gyro and Grill in Wappingers Falls does a nice job

      Miss Monticello has the real deal; I lived 8 years next to Astoria (on Roosevelt Island) and the diner nails it. Funky, local place with excellent food.

        Anna's on Washington Terrace in the City of Newburgh has great gyros.
