The Capital Grille
Our daughter wanted to celebrate her "Straight A" report card by dining at Capital Grille in the Fashion Show Mall. We elected to go for lunch on Saturday and arrived just before 1PM. There weren't many patrons, but we were by no means dining alone. We were quickly seated and our drink order taken. Lunch was good, but as you would expect a bit on the pricey side. We started with the Fried Calamari with Peppers ($14). The calamari was cooked perfectly and the peppers really do add to the dish. For her entree our daughter ordered the Filet Mignon ($27) and Parmesan Truffle Fries ($9). Her steak was cooked to the requested "rare" temperature and the fries were great and there were more than enough for all of us to share. My wife had the salad special which was a Crab Louie ($19). The King Crab was tossed with a citrus/champagne vinaigrette and placed on bib lettuce. A very nice presentation and an excellent salad. I ordered the Crab/Lobster "Burger" ($19) which was served with homemade potato chips and a homemade tartar sauce. It was my least favorite of any of the entrees, but was still pretty good.
Service was good and the waitress was kind enough to allow our daughter to select a dessert on the house in recognition of her scholastic achievement. She selected the Crème Brulee. I can't tell you how it compares to others as she ate the whole thing! A good indication of the quality....
One special they are offering at Capital Grille that we didn't try is a "wine tasting" menu for $25/person after 4PM and only $10/person prior to 4PM. You can have as much as you like from any or all of the wines offered. Today they are offering a selection of 10 different wines from three different wine regions (California, Italy, and New Zealand today; selections later tihs month will be from California, Spain and Australia). A glance through the list indicated a very nice selection, particularly at these price points.
