I am looking for a bakery that has really good red velvet cupcakes. Preferably with cream cheese icing. In Montgomery county would be best. Thanks!

  1. Try Velvet Sky Bakery on Leedom St. in Jenkintown. Great red velvet cupcakes--and everything else too! You can also check out Zake's Cakes in Ft. Washington; I haven't been there in a while but they did carry RV cupcakes at one time.

    1. The best in the area by far is at Sweet Bytes cafe in Ambler. Yummy and homemade tasting. They have a creamy white chocolate icing, I'm normallly a fan of cream cheese too, but this converted me. Hands down best cupcakes! Call ahead to make sure they baked them that day!

Brown Betty has wonderful ones worthy of a drive (or walk) to CC.

      2. Thanks for all the advice! I will definetly try Sweet Bytes and Zakes.

        1. Let Them Eat Cupcakes in Doylestown has excellent ones. I was chatting with the baker and he says they are his best seller. Last time I was there I got a new flavor called "hummingbird" that was tasty, but today your post inspired me to head up there right now for some Red Velvet Cupcake goodness. If they aren't sold out. Hmm, maybe I should call first! Oops just realized you said montco. Oh well it is only a little ways into Bucks.

              Light as a feather?

Very likely akin to this - it is a pretty common cupcake flavor: http://www.joyofbaking.com/Hummingbir...

uhockey is right. It was close to what was posted. The baker had a little sign next to the hummingbird cupcakes with the prominent flavors. I seem to remember four. They were out when I went on saturday. I had to "settle" for just red velvet ones so I snagged the last two. It was almost closing and the shop was empty except for the two of us. I was so happy that I started singing "he makes red velvet...." to the tune of Blue Velvet. :)
