One evening feed in Auckland

Will be in Auckland for one night before departure to Waiheke in August and am looking for a good feed. Am open to all suggestions, however will will have been in Hong Kong beforehand so probably no Chinese. More than likely to be based in Ponsonby/Grey Lynn, but will have a car. No real budget in mind, although the way the pound is going then good value likely to be preferred. I think Cuisine's 2010 restaurant announcements come out too late to follow the herd, so maybe I can beat them?

I like the two fifteen on Dominion Rd in Mt Eden. The food is excellent as is the service. The starters are fantastic (especially the tuna epenades). This is the city end so you can catch a bus from the city and it's 1 zone. It's a neighbourhood place so not super flash.
French cafe - expensive ,not French but terrific reputation. We have had a few disappointments but reliable friends gave raved.

agreed! Also Molten in Mt Eden was beautiful last time I went - great service and delicious NZ bistro food. They have a cocktail bar next door now too, which would be great for a drink before dinner.
