Eating at Fleur De Lys for a rehearsal dinner - what should I order?

Glam Foodie Jul 8, 2010 08:33 AM

My lovely cousin is getting married in San Francisco and her in-laws are very (very!) graciously treating all of the wedding party (including myself) to Fleur de Lys for the rehearsal dinner. According to my cousin, they're going to have all of us order a three course meal plus wine pairings.

I've never been to FDL, and I'm so excited! What are the 'Can't be missed' dishes that I should consider? Is there anything in particular this restaurant is famous for? Or, if you've been there recently, what did you order and how did you like it?

They're really known for the tasting menu. Since it seems you'll be ordered off the standard menu I'd ask the waiter based on your preferences. I've never had a bad meal there.

Wow! If it's Fleur for the rehearsal dinner, what are they going to do for the wedding dinner?

I gotta say their quail stuffed with ris de veau is probably the best preparation of quail I've ever had, much better than the the quail I've had at Gary Danko and other French/California restaurants! How can you go wrong with quail, stuffed with veal sweetbreads, with foie gras on the side?

I thought their souffles for dessert were quite lovely as well.

Trust me, anything you order there will be terrific! Just go with what sounds most appealing when you read the menu, and you'll be in for such a treat.
